Jesus didn't leave us in doubt as far as persecution is concerned. Hear what he said to his disciples;
Luke 6:22-23 (NLT)
[22]What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
[23]When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.
If you are a believer, one that will not compromise his faith for anything, expect persecution. It's part of the cross you have to bear as a believer.
When many believers think of persecution, they think of physical torture, loss of lives & properties. But persecution doesn't necessarily mean that. Those are the extreme forms. When you are denied the business deal because you wouldn't compromise your faith by giving a bribe, you're persecuted. When you are mocked by classmates or colleagues for taking a stand for Christ, that's persecution.
You can take comfort in what Jesus said in vs 23 - a crown awaits whoever bears the cross of persecution. You can't wear the crown if you're not willing to bear the cross of persecution. Yes, the world will persecute you for standing for Christ... But don't let that move you, because a crown awaits you.
Stay uncompromising!
